While we're stuck inside, go outside

Outside is my place of reset. There is something magical that happens to me when I'm in nature. Perhaps I've been in a funk, not feeling my best, unmotivated, anxious, any one of those many feelings I deal with as someone with anxiety. Sometimes its hard to find that motivation to get out but when I do wow! I feel grounded, grateful and can wrap my head around things easier. It took noticing this in my daughter to realise that I am the same, we are both Virgos, earth signs, go figure. I'm so thankful for that knowing and connection with her.

Here in England, there is a lot of messaging about outdoor exercise due to Covid. When I go out I see folks out walking, running (no one seems to jog, they run fast), biking and dog walking. Our dog and cat are being loved back home while we are here, dearly missed, so I take note of every pooch or cat that crosses our path. The crispness of a Winnipeg winter, the crunch underfoot, bright blue skies will all be observed soon enough, I'm ready to finish winter here and explore.

Since our 10 day mandatory isolation finished there have been maybe a handful of days that I haven't been outside. There is a difference between dry and damp cold, and everything you've heard is true. I'm thankful for making afghans, sweaters and shawls since being here. They help make our new place feel like home, wrapping my family in handmade love.

If I could share a feeling with you it would be my contentment when I am outside.

We have all been stuck inside for a year now, except the amazing essential workers and those many folks keeping things rolling, and my recommendation is get outside. So many friends have shared discoveries close to home, staycationing and exploring where they live. I have been fortunate to explore here in England, really appreciating all the new discoveries close to our new home.
